One of the many great things about owning your own motorhome is having the ability to tour where you like throughout the UK and visit new places, or simply go back to a place you have enjoyed spending time in before. With so many stunning destinations to visit and plenty of open roads to explore in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, there’s no limit to the number of campsites you can visit if you have access to a caravan or motorhome.

Many people are attracted to coastal resorts in the southern part of England during the summer, hoping to enjoy a beach holiday and warm, sunny days.

With that in mind, here we list seven popular coastal campsites as recommended by The Camping and Caravan Club in England. Try these amazing sites, and have fun touring in your motorhome this year.

Devon

Blessed with beautiful beaches, fishing harbours and stunning coastal paths, Devon has so many attractions to offer you. Close to the Exmoor coast, Lynton Club Campsite is a popular option for visitors to the area, and it’s easy to see why due to it being a secluded campsite with stunning far-reaching views across Southern Wales.  Close to Combe Martin, Ilfracombe and Woolacombe, this site is located within Exmoor National Park and has plenty of good quality beaches close by.

Cornwall

For breathtaking scenery, it’s hard to beat Cornwall as a motorhome destination. As well as plenty of beaches scattered along the Cornish coast, here you will find misty moors, woodland and spectacular cliffs, with something to suit all tastes. From the surfer’s paradise known as Fistral Beach in Newquay to familiar landscapes filmed for the television series Poldark, this really is a paradise worth exploring. There are plenty of campsites ready to accommodate your motorhome and the Bude Club Site is set within an area of natural outstanding beauty and has plenty of facilities on site.

Dorset

If you’re a fan of coastal camping, a trip to Dorset in your motorhome is a must at some point. Renowned for its Jurassic coastline, there’s so much stunning scenery to explore in Dorset with mind-blowing walks right along the clifftop. Here you’ll find splendid beaches and cosy coves tucked away amongst the rocks. This splendid sanctuary is a little slice of heaven and is perfect for a family holiday. Charmouth Club Campsite makes a great base for exploring the area and is a particularly well-maintained site.

Suffolk

Scenic and serene, Suffolk makes a very memorable coastal campsite holiday. Head to Suffolk this year and you will find golden strips of beaches, plenty of seaside attractions, and all the family favourites that make a traditional holiday by the coast so appealing. Experience the magic of a sunrise at Lowestoft, tuck into fish and chips on Southwold pier, or spend time on one of Felixstowe’s amazing cycling trails. The Africa Alive Wildlife Park is well worth a visit if you are staying in the area, with Kessingland Club Campsite the perfect spacious site to park your motorhome.

Sussex

Simply sensational! Sussex is blessed with some of the most spectacular shorelines in the UK and it’s a blissful place to spend a motorhome holiday.  Spare the time to watch one of the showcase sunsets in the summer and enjoy the huge expanse of sands and the twinkle of the English Channel. Head to the Sussex coastline and you will find plenty of seaside attractions to keep you amused. Eastbourne Beach is always a popular choice and Normans Bay campsite makes a brilliant motorhome stop-off point if you are visiting the area.

Norfolk

You are surrounded by natural beauty when you pay a visit to Norfolk. Whether you fancy a stopover near Great Yarmouth, one of Britain’s favourite seaside resorts, enjoy the wetlands around the Norfolk Broads, or simply want to laze on the golden sands, this is an idyllic holiday destination and easily accessible with a motorhome. Book a pitch at West Runton camping site close to Cromer for an easy commute to nearby piers, proms and sandy beaches.

The Isle of Wight

This is about as far south as you can travel with a motorhome. Actually, it’s that far south, it’s off the mainland! Never mind, you can always get a ferry to the Isle of Wight and have a great time exploring the local area. Famous for Cowes week, a spectacular sailing regatta in the height of summer, the Isle of Wight is a haven of natural coastline and has some truly outstanding beaches ready to welcome you. Stay at the Adgestone campsite and relax at this great site for families, then explore the delights of the Isle of Wight at your leisure.
